How (Kn)it’s Made

Ever wonder how we make our knits? From carefully chosen materials to working with our trusted, women-owned manufacturer, our focus is on keeping our impact low, practices ethical, and products high quality to last longer.

Our Process
Using a process called full fashion knitting, each piece is made to shape, with no scraps, no waste. We keep things small, usually making about 50 of each style, and only produce what people actually want. If there’s no interest, we skip it.
Where it’s Made
Every piece is thoughtfully and ethically manufactured in Shanghai, China, at a small, women-owned facility we’ve partnered with since 2013. We’ve worked with them since the beginning and value their expertise and commitment to quality, ensuring each style is made with care.

Our Programs

Our Materials
We choose our materials with care, focusing on natural fibers like cotton, and using synthetic fibers when needed. All of our materials are cruelty-free with no animal fibers, which has been a priority since the brand was started. Plus, our machine-washable styles make caring for your sweater simple, helping it last season after season.
Why Synthetics?
We use synthetic fibers when needed to achieve a specific look or level of performance. For example, elastane in the cuffs and hems keeps them stretchy and in shape. For winter styles, we will use yarns like acrylic and polyester that give off that wool-like warmth, but are more affordable and animal-friendly. For Spring, we might use nylon —it’s light, breathable, and helps keep you cool by wicking away sweat.
